Publix’s marketing department devises visual elements, conducts market and consumer research, and develops product marketing to align Publix’s brand with the needs of customers. Within the department, the Graphic Designer manages the successful design execution of projects consistent with provided concepts and brand standards for a variety of print and digital creative materials (e.g., print and digital ads, out-of-home, direct mail, posters, packaging, signs, logos, etc.). Ideal candidates are creative with effective communication and collaboration skills. Additionally, they have strong time management skills and can manage multiple projects at the same time.

Responsibilities Include

• Designing execution of projects and maintaining creative Publix brand standards through submission of highest quality, technical, and aesthetic work set forth by Creative leadership
• Repurposing established design solutions, resizing existing art, pulling existing files and preparing for reprint
• Compositing and retouching photo files provided by Art Directors
• Preparing mechanicals and supporting art files for printing, delivery and archiving
• Reviewing printer’s proofs for accuracy of content, design, color, and consistency
• Fostering professional growth of fellow associates by providing mentoring and guidance to Ad Production Designers as necessary

Required Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in a graphics field or equivalent experience
• At least two years experience as a Production Designer or equivalent experience
• Knowledge of the graphic design process
• Knowledge of traditional and digital media channels (e.g., print, in-store, social and digital, adaptive/responsive websites, apps, etc.), including best practices, strengths, and limitations
• Knowledge of 4-color process, pre-press, image retouching and print industry technology (offset, flexographic, digital and screen)
• Knowledge of Marketing department workflow processes and project lifecycles
• Knowledge of the printing process and file preparation
• Knowledge of business objectives and industry and market trends
• Knowledge of digital, printing, social, and distribution processes (e.g., file preparation for digital channels and packaging for physical printing)
• Strong typography, layout, composition, and color theory skills
• Skilled in all phases of graphics mechanical production, including preparing files for output
• Ability to evaluate design execution for effectiveness against established creative concepts and brand standards
• Creativity skills

• Ability to manage multiple projects at the same time
• Time management skills
• Effective collaboration skills
• Proficient and technically sound in all industry standard design software applications: Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Keynote, and Acrobat

Preferred Qualifications

• Three or more years experience as a Production Designer or equivalent experience
• Proficient and technically sound in Word, Excel and PowerPoint
• Knowledge of Publix brand, lines of business, and target customer

Year End BonusTo reward associates for their contributions to the company for the calendar year, Publix provides a Holiday Bonus in November. In the first year of continuous employment the bonus is equal to 15 hours of pay, and in the second year of continuous employment the bonus is equal to one week’s pay if associate remains employed through issue date of the bonus check. In subsequent years, the bonus is equal to two weeks’ pay.
